THE SECRET PLACE

John 15:7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

ABIDE = meno’ – to stay, abide, remain, dwell, wait, wait for, await, to not depart, to continue to be present, to maintain unbroken fellowship with someone, adhere to his party, to be constantly present to help one, Dwell at his own house

DWELL – (from 9 words) sit, remain, abide, inhabit, to live as a resident, to exist in a given place or state, to fasten one’s attention upon

DWELL DEEPJer.49:8 refers to the custom of seeking refuge from impending danger, in retiring to the recesses of the rocks and caverns or to remote places in the dessert.

Psalm 91  (Drawn from the Imagery of Passover Night when the Destroying Angel passed through Egypt, while the faithful and obedient Israelites were sheltered by God.)

He [anyone, God is no respecter of persons] who dwelleth – (from 9 words) sit, remain, abide, inhabit, to live as a resident, to exist in a given place or state, to fasten one’s attention upon

dwell deep – Jer. 49:8 refers to the custom of seeking refuge from impending danger, in retiring to the recesses of the rocks and caverns or to remote places in the dessert…in the Secret place of the Most High

Not for ALL Believer’s… but for those who live in close fellowship and communion with GOD.  All True Believers look toward the inner sanctuary, and the mercy seat, yet all do not dwell in the Holy Place; they run to it at times, and enjoy occasional approaches, but they do not habitually reside in the mysterious presence.
Those who do dwell there, become possessors of rare and special benefits, which are missed by those who follow afar off, and grieve the Holy Spirit of God. Into the secret place those only come who know the love of God in Christ Jesus, and those only dwell there to whom to live is Christ.

What is… THE SECRET PLACE?

CHRIST IS… ‘The SECRET PLACE’!!!
(Cols.3:1-4)If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

[In the Old Testament, the term “secret place” comes from the Hebrew root word cether, which means “to hide or be concealed.”]
“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.” Here it speaks of the hidden world of a mother’s womb as a child develops. But this word is also used in Psalm 32:7: “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Although a secret place can refer to a physical location, it most often connotes a state of a soul in its relationship with God.

Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; / In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; / He will lift me up on a rock” (NAS). The psalmist is not referring to an actual tabernacle or tent in which he will hide from physical enemies. He is speaking of the state of peace God gives in the midst of trials and attacks.

The idea of a secret place originates with God. Because He is Spirit and His glory is beyond our ability to perceive, we must meet with Him in the secret places of the heart in order to commune with Him. When Moses wanted to see the glory of God, the LORD explained that no man could see God and live (Exodus 33:20).

So God allowed Moses to see His glory only from a secret place.

In Exodus 33:22 God said, “When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.”
Here God gives us a glimpse into what we must do to experience the presence of God. It can only be enjoyed when we enter His secret place.

The key to moving there… is a total surrender to the Holy Spirit and the will of God for our lives. This decision dominates our actions and changes our outlook.

(John 14:21 – 23) As we obey, God meets us in His secret place…
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He teaches us and encourages us to remain.

Our continual choice to surrender fully to Him results in His continued strength to do so. If our lives are to bear lasting fruit, the power to bear that fruit comes from time spent with Him in the secret place

How do you make THE LORD… Your HABITATION, the Place… wherein You Dwell?

John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I will abide in you”

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty

“The Omnipotent Lord will shield all those who dwell with him, they shall remain under his care as guests under the protection of their host. In the most holy place the wings of the cherubim were the most conspicuous objects, and they probably suggested to the Psalmist the expression here employed. Those who commune with God are safe with him, no evil can reach them, for the outstretched wings of his power and love cover them from all harm. This protection is constant – they abide under it, and it is all-sufficient, for it is the shadow of the Almighty, whose omnipotence will surely screen them from all attack. No shelter can be imagined at all comparable to the protection of Jehovah’s own shadow. The Almighty himself is where his shadow is, and hence those who dwell in his secret place are shielded by himself”.
